Block Printed Patterns Workshop with Chandlyr Jackson
June 7, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Students will learn about the basic tools and materials needed to start block printing, and continue practicing on their own. During the workshop, Chandlyr, of Freckled Fuchsia, will guide participants through the entire process of block printing on fabric, and creating a unique pattern. Each student will learn how to design, carve and block print onto their own fabric of choice to take home with them. Students will also learn about ink curing, and how to care for their block printed piece after it has been printed and cured.
Chandlyr is a designer and printmaker based in Portland, Maine. She is also the founder of her own home and kitchen decor brand, Freckled Fuchsia, where she creates her own art prints, colorful and patterned tea towels, as well as block printed notebooks. Before rooting herself in Portland, she studied Product Design at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston and then spent a couple of years in Providence, RI working as a User Experience and User Interface Designer at a small design consultancy. Chandlyr’s favorite way to work is through pattern design, but has always been interested in a variety of art mediums, both digital and analogue, and enjoys the challenge of intermixing the two.
