Carborundum Gel Printing and Mezzotype

Discover an exciting and innovative approach to carborundum printing with the Akua Carborundum Gel.  Elements of collagraphy and screen printing join together to provide new creative possibilities.  The premixed ready-to-use Carborundum Gel offers a reliable medium that yields fine, sharp details and rich, velvety areas of color.  In this workshop, we will explore addition techniques where Carborundum Gel is applied to the plate with various tools.  We will also practice the reduction technique of carborundum mezzotype, using a screen printing screen.  This process imitates traditional mezzotint. We will print with fume-free water and soy based Akua inks and modifiers.
