Akua Carborundum Gel Demonstration With Talleen Hacikyan

Discover an innovative approach to carborundum printing with Akua Carborundum Gel.  The premixed ready-to-use Carborundum Gel offers a reliable medium that yields fine, sharp details and rich, velvety areas of color.  Talleen Hacikyan will show additive techniques where Carborundum Gel is applied to the plate using different tools and methods, such as stenciling.  She will also demonstrate the reductive technique of carborundum mezzotype, using a screen printing screen and drawing into wet and dry Carborundum Gel, creating a mezzotint like print.  Different printing techniques using fume free water and soy based Akua inks on the etching press will be covered.

Talleen Hacikyan is a visual artist and art educator from Montreal, Canada.  She has exhibited extensively in over eighty solo and juried group shows in Canada and internationally.  Awards include the 2015 Speedball Purchase Award, Loto-Quebec Printmaking prize and Pratt and Whitney Canada’s Prix Pierre Henry.
