Turn high contrast images into relief woodcuts without touching a carving tool.
Your images will be pre-carved by a CNC machine and ready to use upon arrival. More blocks can be carved during the workshop, and hand carving can be added.
We will ink and print the blocks in a wide variety of ways, such as off-setting to plastic or wood for viscosity rolling; lifting ink with the wood block; inserting tissue for a texture layer; and printing blocks face to face. In the process you will learn how to mix and modify Akua soy-based intaglio inks to exploit their unique qualities.
In advance of the workshop, participants will be asked to digitally send images to Catherine for advice on selecting the best ones for CNC cutting.
