Colour Woodcut Workshop with Sean Starwars
June 29, 2019 @ 10:30 am - June 30, 2019 @ 4:30 pm
It’s time to get loose, it’s time to have fun, it’s time to get a little dirty. Outlaw Printmaker Sean Starwars is leading a two day color woodcut workshop where he’ll show you how to make multiblock color woodcuts that will amaze your friends and family! In just two days you’ll learn techniques it has taken him a lifetime to master!!!
Day One
We will jump right in and draw or transfer a killer image directly onto the woodblocks. Sean will give a brief talk outlining the role of the woodcut in art, as well as showing numerous contemporary woodcuts. Next, he’ll discuss tool safety and tell you the secret technique that his kept him from cutting himself in almost thirty years of printmaking. Day One will be an all day marathon of cutting, cutting, and more cutting until all four woodblocks are ready to go.
Day Two
This will be when the real magic happens! That’s when we’ll bust out the color inks and make print after print!!! You’ll experience the thrill of seeing your block come to life as a completed four-color woodcut! Now that it’s all done, we’ll still have time to play around with some of the other fun things you can do with a woodblock print. Do you like t shirts?, because we’ll be printing t shirts directly off the woodblocks, as well as making stickers, patches and anything else that can run through a press! Beat the Summertime Blues with this 2-day workshop and end up with exciting multicolor woodcuts you can give to friends and family. You’ll be amazed at what you can do in just two days!!!
Come spend the weekend with us. You deserve it!
