Encaustic Collagraph – Wax, Washi and Yupo with Dorothy Cochran
February 17, 2018 - February 18, 2018
Discover an approachable, non- toxic process for multiple layer printing! Using a combination of innovative printmaking materials, participants will create printmaking plates using hot wax on Yupo, a synthetic paper support. Wax is painted, stamped, textured, and scraped to produce a high and low plate surface which reveals all the subtleties of mark making in preparation for printing with soy-based Akua Inks. Dampened washi (Japanese paper) is placed on top of the inked surface and gently hand rubbed or press printed to transfer the images. This workshop covers all aspects of encaustic collagraph printing with many special tips on handling both the materials and presentation of the produced works.
