Ink, Paper, Pressure: The Intaglio Print with Amy Nack

What did Mary Cassatt and Whistler have in common with Jasper Johns and Rembrandt? They were captivated by ink forced into paper and the signature embossment of their plate. Incise your image into a flexible plastic plate, push ink into the incised lines, cover with cotton rag paper and take the helm of our etching press to create a rich, velvety expressive print in this exciting workshop. If you’re an artist that loves to make marks, draw or illustrate, this is an opportunity to explore non-toxic intaglio printmaking.

Supplies you’ll need: X-acto knife, 25 sheets of 9 x 12 newsprint, Package of baby wipes (Huggies are great), Drawings or photographs sized to 5 x 7 for reference, Sharpened H or F Pencil.
