Multi-Layer Linoleum Relief Printing: A one-day intensive Printmaking Workshop with Speedball Demo Artist Amber Kaiser
March 22, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Relief printing is a printmaking process for beginners and experienced artists alike. It is accessible in the home without a press and can be used in a variety of ways on paper, fabric, among other surfaces. In reductive printmaking, a surface is drawn on and carve out using carving gouges/tools. The surface is then inked up using a brayer and then printed by hand, or with a press.
This workshop will provide an in depth understanding of the relief printing process using linoleum as the carving surface. Students will learn everything they need to know to relief printing in their own home/studio. Students can expect to learn a basic understanding of printmaking, specifically in linoleum relief techniques and how to create multiple blocks for multiple colors. We will learn step by step in plate preparation, paper options, carving and inking techniques.
Most Materials are provided* Please bring in ideas and sketches to work from. No experience necessary! *Please bring a lunch/drinks *Gloves- disposable or kitchen sink *1 roll of shop towels
