Filip Ciślak

Filip Ciślak is a designer, letter artist, and calligrapher based in Katowice, Poland. He is also an academic teacher at the Graphic Design Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. In 2022, he earned his Ph.D. for the work on methodology and visual systems for teaching calligraphy to graphic design students.

Besides his specialization in calligraphy and lettering, he has significant experience in brand design and typography. He is available both for commissions and collaboration.

His main interest in calligraphy is not in reviving the formal historical forms but in exploring the new possibilities and appliances in graphic design and typography.

He conducted numerous calligraphy workshops in Poland and elsewhere in places like Helsinki, Bratislava, and Zlin, to name a few. In addition, since 2016, he has run regular calligraphy workshops for Academy’s students. Contact him if you’re interested in inviting him to run the workshop or classes in your venue.
